Police Blotter
Sunday, February 11, 2007
OK, so I turned on CNN at 1:00 PM PT - just now, and the top three stories were:
- Iraq
- Barack Obama
- The Police Reunion
No commentary from me on the list, just amazement at how well-received the whole thing has been...I guess you have to take into account the fact that they really walked away at the total top of their success...
Only a few more hours now...

Da GRAMMYs
Friday, February 09, 2007
In a bizarro world twist of fate, I am off to the GRAMMYs as part of my day job.
I would be lying if I said I am not pretty damn excited to see The Police perform at the show. I am going to see them twice in less than 24 hours as I am heading over to this event Monday morning, too. To get in the mood...
Are you going to be in L.A. over the next few days? Heading to the GRAMMYs?

way-back machine v57: Sonny Sharrock
Monday, February 05, 2007
...at the old Knitting Factory in New York City on this date in 1994...
I posted about Sonny back in July and lots of folks emailed me to say how much they loved him but didn't know anyone else who did! There is now a great new official website for Sonny that recently launched - there's even some audio and video up there - hopefully more people will learn about his work. I really encourage you to check him out.
Sonny's music was always out-of-this-world: electric guitar played like Coltrane or Zorn. Dissonant but melodic. And heavy. Here's proof:
