Today is my eldest son's fourth birthday. "Great", you say, "but what does that have to do with music?"
Well let me tell you...
This kid has a major affinity for music. It started with Baby Einstein, Music for Aardvarks, and the songs from Thomas, I suppose, if you do not include all of the in-womb exposure...he progressed to that uncanny connection it seems all children have with the music of The Beatles and before we knew it he was identifying music by genre (classical, jazz and reggae being the first), asking for Stevie Wonder and Billie Holiday, showing an interest in piano and guitar, dancing, and all-around rocking out...
Jazz and reggae have really settled in as his two favorite types of music but lately, he has a new favorite song and I think it is foreshadowing an inevitable foray into pop music...My boy is obsessed with every version of this song he can find...watching videos of it on YouTube...jumping around in circles in the living room while we play it, repeatedly...
